So, why not 3D Dot Game Heroes? As it's not a particularly latency-dependent game, I'd have loved to replay it on my PS4 via PSNow, but because it never got a digital release it's not available on the service. But it released in 2010, when nearly every game got a simultaneous release. If it came out earlier in the PS3's life-cycle, I'd get why.

You have to upgrade the sword with the Pierce ability to get it to go through things.Sure it was not the greatest (or most original game), but I really enjoyed 3D Dot Game Heroes, one of my favorite non-Sony Published PS3 exclusives. I may need to use the "spin attack" every time, just to make sure. This may go away with time, as I get used to the games combat. This makes it really easy to get hit when you thought you were going to hit the enemy. It is entirely possible for an enemy to be in front of you and be just above your sword swing. Another issue I had with combat involved the regular size sword. The collision detection on the sword also makes the dash boots of limited use, since you stop running and bounce back whenever your sword collides with something. Supposedly later swords in the game can go through trees and rocks so this won't be an issue for long. Since there is collision detection on the sword, the sword was hitting the trees and not able to come out so I got hit by the enemy.

I was standing in a narrow spot between two trees, and an enemy was coming at me.

I also ran into an issue with the full power sword. I'm only a couple hours in, but so far I'm really pleased with the game, and am looking forward to playing more. Hopefully someone else here can tell us more about it. I have not tried this since I am terrible at that kind of thing. You can use a 3d grid to draw your own character. One of the main features of this game is the character creator. I also ran into an issue with the full power sword.
In fact, if you DON'T have full hearts it can make the game difficult. My first thought was this would make the game too easy. Your sword get extra long and wide when you have full hearts. I will say that I like the way the boss enemies look during the short cutscene that plays at the start of the battle.Ĭombat is pretty standard Zelda type combat. The water in particular kind of looks bad if you look at it for too long. Pretty good, for the most part but doesn't really hold up to scrutiny. If you never played LoZ I don't know how you will feel about this. That is a great thing if you are nostaglic for that kind of game. It is definitely a love letter to The Legend of Zelda (NES).
